Our two simple rules for indoor vs. outdoor weddings. If you have an INDOOR wedding, may we suggest bringing the outdoors in. If you have an OUTDOOR wedding, we love seeing couples bring the indoors out!
No matter how you come to your decision, once you’ve got your venue set, don’t forget these rules. 🙂
Now…for today’s post. Let’s move indoors. We’re melting in this Wisconsin June heat!
Our go-to rental for an indoor wedding? Our very special harvest table. Why is this table so special you ask? We design it, build it, and even go through the true labor of love that is pulling the nails out of the reclaimed barn wood used to make each table. All of this is done, right here, in Wisconsin. They seat 8-10 guests comfortably and no two look exactly the same. If you’d like to be a part of this special table’s story, check out A LA MADE GOODS. Insider hint, we’ll be making a small batch soon that you can get in on if you want one for your own home!
So to bring the outdoors into your venue, why not bring this reclaimed wood table to your guests? We love how Ali + Andy paired our wood tables with round tables to create a mixed look that is unique and provides a fresh approach to standard table layout. The white and blue elements from the table linens help to bring the two table styles together and look cohesive. These first 6 images are all from the Pollock/Pistner wedding at Overture Center for the Arts – and between the natural lighting, styling + design by Cherry Blossom Events, photos by Paper Antler … this is one of our favorite weddings.
Common Thread Approach:
Keeping the blue element going through out the space, the couple had a small lounge set up for their guests to relax and to enjoy some images and elements of their courtship. Our blue velvet chair was the right piece for this grouping and we’re hopeful that some great conversations took place here over the course of the evening.
The guest list and our vintage green workbench = a love story! Holy guacamole we enjoy getting this piece out to a party. Whatever its job, it will do it with ease and look spectacular doing it. Here guests’ escort cards look perfect all nice and neat in their rows. No doubt once everyone is seated, this could do double duty as a dessert display to end all dessert displays!
Another great fit for any event is signage! Wisconsin is known for its dairy, so give your guests something they know will be- Gouda! Tell them what they are enjoying and go ahead and add some elements that help pull your theme in. Our wood bowl bases help to get the signage up higher and to bring in the wood element again.
And those lemons! When someone gives you lemons as design inspiration, you run with it – you go Cherry Blossom ladies, bravo!
Centerpieces (continue bringing the outdoors in):
Centerpieces can be simple or grandiose! Again its the couple’s personality on display, so the groom’s love of origami became the center of each table design below. An origami flower may not work in every container, but we are able to work with couples to try things out ahead of time, just to make sure everything is blooming properly the day of. Speaking of, if you need recommendations for local florists, just ask! There are so many fabulous floral vendors in the area. We would love to connect you!
We got your Back (drop)!
Our hand sewn lace backdrop made from vintage lace softens the stage while the threadbare rug helps to ground the couple. Everyone is likely to be floating a little on their wedding day, so consider ways to help keep your feet firm. Planting them on a little history can help put it all in perspective. Or at least we like to think so.
The Big Picture
To cycle back to what Ali + Andy did so well at the Overture, think about the overall layout of your space. Adding a long table of harvest tables for the head table may be just the thing to fit your budget and make your room stand out! See how that works below at very different venues; Swan Barn Door, Turner Hall and the Edgewater.
And lastly, don’t forget what the day is all about. The two of you.
Here for you if you need anything!
